About TransRenus

TransRenus was founded by me in the autumn of 2019. By that point, I had already worked in logistics for 24 years, in different roles and in several countries (NL, DE, SK, AT, LU). Logistics is mainly about figures, but language has always fascinated me. I soon realised that logistics-related translations into German or Dutch require certain specialist knowledge of the sector.  I enjoyed proofreading. With this in mind, I started a Bachelor's degree in German Translation in 2017 and successfully completed it in 2019. In the early days, I only translated or revised on a part-time basis for several translation agencies. However, by 2023 it was clear that both roles could no longer be combined. I was constantly on the road for my logistics sales job, while translating is labour-intensive. So I made the leap to go freelance...

I was born in Delft in the Netherlands. In the 1980s, I studied European Studies at the University of Amsterdam (German as a first language, Modern Greek as a second language and European Law). In the late nineties, I completed a Master's degree in Transport and Logistics at the TIAS Business School in Tilburg.

In 2000, I immigrated to Germany with my wife and lived near Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich for a decade. I have experienced many aspects of German culture over the years, including "Äppelwoi" (apple wine), the Landshut Wedding and the "Prunksitzung" show organised by the "Große Braunsfelder" carnival club in Cologne. Although I have not lived in Germany anymore since 2011, it has always stayed the center of my business activities until today.
